This town was the site of the single shot that disabled the ironclad, USS Mound City. The shot caused the steam drum to explode, killing 125 men. A monument stands in the center of Broadway Street and commemorates fallen Union and Confederate soldiers. The museum interprets the events.
Helena, Arkansas | The cemetery contains gravesites of Confederate soldiers who died during the 1863 Battle of Helena, as well as the graves of soldiers who died during other engagements in eastern Arkansas.
