What are the dates of the event?

Who can attend the American Battlefield Trust National Teacher Institute?
This event is primarily intended for K-12 educators and administrators, but we also allow the following professionals to attend:
- Active K-12 educators and administrators
- Curriculum coordinators/developers
- Museum professionals
- Librarians
- Adjunct and full-time college professors & administrators
- School IT Professionals
- After-school program coordinators and facilitators
- Continuing education coordinators and educators
Where will the 2026 Virtual Teacher Institute be held?
The event will be held on the American Battlefield Trust webinar platform. Registered attendees will receive a custom link and easy login directions for the webinar platform the week prior to the event (and the each morning of the Virtual Teacher Institute.)
In which time zone is the event?
All session times are in Eastern Standard Time.
When does registration open for the event?
Registration is open now.
Do I need to register for the event?
Yes, you must register for each session that you wish to attend. Once you have completed your initial registration, you can always to add or modify sessions.
What is the cost of registration?
There is no registration fee; the event is FREE.
How do I attend?
- Register and select the webinar sessions that you wish to attend.
- After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with your confirmation number.
- You will receive a follow-up email in July during the week before the event, sharing the event login information and resending your confirmation number.
- On the event day(s), login to the event with your confirmation number and the information in the customized email.
- A few minutes before the webinar starts, login and click on the session you registered to watch.
- Attend the session and have fun while learning!
Are you recording the sessions?
Yes, the sessions will be recorded and uploaded to the American Battlefield Trust website a few weeks after the event. All sessions are also available on the CVENT platform for up to 60 days after the event. Please note that you cannot receive Attendance Certificate credit for watching a recorded session; only live session participants can receive a certificate.
Can I add more sessions after I register?
Yes, log in (with your confirmation number) to CVENT and add or remove any sessions that you wish. You can also add sessions while you are in the live event.
When can I enter a session room?
Five minutes before the session start time.
Will you provide Continuing Education Certificates (CEUs)?
No, we are not providing CEU Certificates this year. However, we are providing Attendance Certificates.
What is an Attendance Certificate?
An Attendance Certificate will show the hours of participation in organized continuing education classes and/or training conducted by a qualified instructor. Up to 16 hours of attendance can be received and attendance time of the live sessions is recorded through American Battlefield Trust's event system. All Attendance Certificates will be processed AFTER the event and upon request in the post-event survey.
How hours of attendance can I receive, and how do I earn the hours?
You may receive up to 16 hours. All participation is logged and timed on our virtual learning platform.
How do I receive my Attendance Certificate?
- You must register for each session that you plan to attend.
- Attend at least one (1) or more event live webinars.
- You must log in and attend at least one live session for at least 60 minutes.
- Complete an exit survey that will be sent to you after the conclusion of the event.
- Answer YES when asked on the exit survey if you wish to receive an attendance certificate for the event.
- Check the email address that you provided for your certificate starting in September of 2026. Don't forget to check your spam folder, too.
- Download and save your certificate! The custom links for the certificates are supported for a couple of months.
Can I receive attendance time for watching a recorded session?
No. The hours on an Attendance Certificate will only be logged for participating in live sessions. No hours will be shown for watching recorded sessions.
Can I receive attendance time for attending two sessions simultaneously?
No. You can only receive attendance for attending one session at a time.
How long do I have to wait to receive my 2026 Attendance Certificate?
CEU certificates will be sent to the email address that you provided in your exit survey. All certificates will be emailed in early September 2026.
Do I have to pay for my Attendance Certificate?
No.
How do I know if my school district will accept the Attendance Certificate?
It is your responsibility to confirm with your school district if they will accept the certificate for the time you attend. The American Battlefield Trust only facilitates the issuance of the certificate. The application of the certificate is up to each individual, school, and school district.
How long do I have to request my 2026 Attendance Certificate?
You have until July 31, 2026, to request your attenance certificate through the post-event survey. We will not process any new requests for the 2026 Virtual Teacher Institute after July 31, 2026.
Why is there a deadline to request my Attendance Certificate?
Confirming the sessions watched/attended takes time for our staff. We confirm and process all requests and certificate creation in August, sending out the certificates at the beginning of September.
