Battle of Cross Keys: The Widow Pence Farm
June 8, 1862
Historian Bob Krick recalls the first preservation victory for the Civil War Preservation Trust - at the Cross Keys Battlefield. The Widow Pence Farm Tract sits in one of the most important spots on the Cross Keys battlefield. One edge of the tract aligns with the important Mill Creek defensive line and the other with the location where the 8th New York was ambushed by Trimble's Confederates.
