Bryan's Station

Fayette County, Kentucky  |  Aug 15 - 17, 1782

Capt. William Caldwell led a force of Shawnee and Delaware warriors and Canadian Rangers against the American fortification of Bryan’s Station on August 15, 1782. Skirmish fire from both sides continued throughout the day. American reinforcements from Lexington arrived in the afternoon and engaged with the Shawnee. The next day, the British force burned the crops and killed the livestock around the fort before withdrawing.

The success in defending the fort at Bryan’s Station from Canadian Rangers and Shawnee warriors proved that a defensive strategy was effective in resisting the British offensive on the frontier. The British forces withdrew and took up an ambush position that led to the Battle of Blue Licks.
