1774, Jeptha Clark (1743-1813). Clark, from Mendon, MA, was a private in Capt. Foster’s Co., Col. Smith’s Regt. Of Massachusetts Militia, serving in 1776 and 1780. He was not present at Saratoga. He likely carried this horn with him as a soldier during his Revolutionary War service. After the war, Jeptha Clark moved from Massachusetts to Saratoga County, New York. He died in Corinth, NY, in 1813. This powder horn was donated to the Saratoga Battlefield for display in the late 1920s by a Clark family descendant.
