The 1864 Seventh Street Pike (modern day Georgia Avenue NW), the main road north into and out of the city, bisects the Fort Stevens battlefield. Nearby Fort DeRussy is located a half-mile west along Rock Creek. Battlefield Cemetery is located just north of the fort on Georgia Avenue.
