The Alamo | Mar 6, 1836

San Antonio, Texas

After a thirteen-day siege, on the morning of March 6, 1836, Mexican forces led by Gen. Santa Anna stormed the Alamo. Devastating Texan musketry and artillery fire diverted three of the four attack columns to the north wall, the weakest and most vulnerable point in the Alamo defenses. Those on the walls fell back to what is known as the Long Barrack, where the majority of the fighting took place, much it hand-to-hand. In about 90 minutes, all of the roughly 189 defenders perished. The battle became a galvanizing event for Texas and the cry "Remember the Alamo" one of the most famous in U.S. military history.
