During the first major battle of the Civil War at Manassas (Bull Run), the home of the Henry family got caught between Union and Confederate artillery fire, resulting in the death of Judith Carter Henry. Mrs. Henry forever became known as the first civilian to be killed during the war, as her headstone sits on Henry Hill at Manassas National Battlefield Park to this day.
