Hanging Rock | Aug 6, 1780

Kershaw, SC

Colonel Thomas Sumter and Major William Richardson Davie attack and defeat a larger British force. Sumter technically withdraws first at the end of the battle, but not after inflicting lopsided and severe casualties to the British force. Hanging Rock was enormously helpful in the Patriots' efforts in loosening the British stranglehold on the Southern Theater.
