Meeting place
We will be meeting at the Fort Delaware State Park ticket office at 45 Clinton Street, Delaware City, DE 19706. Parking is available on the next street over (Washington Street) behind Crabby Dick's Restaurant. Fort Delaware is located on Pea Patch Island in the Delaware River. The boat to the island will leave at 10 AM.
Planned Activities
We will be taking our interpretive gear to the fort and setting it up. The work for the day will involve sweeping, dusting, weeding, and moving supplies and furniture.
History or Educational Activities
Our staff will be conducting a tour of Fort Delaware for all volunteers that come out to help us out for the day!
Should I bring any tools or supplies?
Any necessary tools will be provided by the park. Volunteers should bring work gloves, lunch/snack food, and a refillable bottle. We will provide drinking water for everyone.
Is there a rain date?
In the instance of inclement weather, Park Day will continue as planned.
Please note
Fort Delaware is on an island, so we will be taking a boat to the site.
All volunteers will need to register through Delaware State Park staff...contact Taylor.reynolds@delaware.gov for more information.
We have a cap of 40 total volunteers for this date.
Should the weather be excessively bad (extremely high winds) we may cancel the event. Otherwise, we will be going on rain or shine. Please dress warmly and wear comfortable shoes.
