Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument

This statue was dedicated September 1871 to honor the Rhode Island soldiers killed in the Civil War. It was one of the first to represent the Black soldiers killed during the war, specifically in the 14th Rhode Island Regiment Heavy Artillery.
