Schuyler Mansion belonged to Philip J. Schuyler, a renowned Revolutionary War general, US Senator, and business entrepreneur. Throughout the Revolutionary War, the mansion was the site of military strategizing, political hobnobbing, elegant social affairs, and an active family life. The site was also where the wedding of Schuyler's daughter Elizabeth Schuyler to Founding Father Alexander Hamilton took place in the house in 1780.
