Battle of Klock's Field Marker, St. Johnsonville, NY

British troops led by Colonel Sir John Johnson left the ruins of Stone Arabia and moved westward toward Canada, returning to the Mohawk River. General Robert Van Rensselaer of the Tryon County Brigade militia arrived from Schenectady with approximately 500 men and engaged the British at Klock’s Field, located nearly a mile west of the Fort Klock Historic Site. Van Rensselaer successfully forced the British to retreat. The Battle of Klock’s Field took place on October 19, 1780.
