Quebec

While the modern Quebec Citadel was built from 1820 to 1850, this new citadel stands atop the land where the British built a smaller, wooden fortress to protect Quebec during the American Revolution. Today, visitors can visit the citadel and its corresponding museum to learn more about the fortifications that protected the city from the seventeenth century until today, as well as the Battle of Quebec on December 31, 1775.
