A historic marker for the 1863 Battle of Helena is located downtown on Perry Street at the site of Fort Curtis, and many of the Union battery positions are designated with other markers. Battery "C", overrun by Confederates during the battle, is on Yorkshire Drive west of town. The Delta Cultural Center on Cherry Street has some local Civil War exhibits. Maple Hill Cemetery contains gravesites of Confederate soldiers who died during the battle. The cemetery is also the final resting place of Confederate Gen. Patrick Cleburne, who was killed at the Battle of Franklin, Tennessee.
