Fort Meigs

To celebrate the nation’s bicentennial, the Ohio History Connection reconstructed Fort Meigs in the 1960s and opened a museum to detail the history of the fort and the War of 1812 in 1974. Since then, the site has gone through a major restoration and created a 3,000 square foot Visitor Center that discusses Ohio’s role in the War of 1812, the history of the war, and the archaeological research of the fort. Today, visitors can take a guided or self-guided tour of the fort and museum where historical interpreters, dressed in period clothes, provide historical demonstrations and discuss the fort’s history.
