Cumberland Church

Farmville

Founded in 1754, the Cumberland Presbyterian Church still stands on the site where the Battle of Cumberland Church took place on April 7, 1865, as the Army of Northern Virginia was retreating from Petersburg and Richmond, Virginia.  Visitors can learn more about the battle via interpretative signs on the property.

Preservation

The American Battlefield Trust and our members have saved more than 47 acres at Cumberland Church.
