Gaines’ Mill Cold Harbor Saved Forever Preservation | 2025

The substantial addition of battlefields saved and preserved in the past decade is a testament to the loyalty and commitment of you and all our Trust members. What began as a distant goal — fraught with high land costs and development pressure — has become a historic preservation effort that has already saved 655 acres and is on the verge of securing even more.

The maps above show just how much progress we’ve made. In blue are the lands we’ve rescued from the risk of being lost forever — to warehouses, data centers, solar installations, housing developments, and more. As of 2024, over 500 acres of land once threatened with development are protected thanks to the commitment of people like you.

The green-shaded areas show “preservation in progress” — tracts where we are actively working to close transactions. The final piece of this incredible preservation puzzle is now within reach: we must raise the remaining $184,295 to fully secure and protect this essential land.
