The Army Historical Foundation (AHF) is excited to share that registration is now open for the Spring Battle Ride, “Angels of the Battlefield”: Women in the Civil War. Walk the grounds of battlefields and explore area museums on a full day outing packing with military history and unique Civil War destinations. AHF is partnering with the Loudoun Heritage Farm Museum to explore the many ways women experienced the American Civil War and their roles during battle and on the home front. Join historians and heritage experts to discover stories on the Antietam battlefield, in the village of Waterford, and at the Loudoun Heritage Farm Museum. Your visit to the Farm Museum includes a special preview of their newest exhibit before it opens to the public. The last stop The Winery at Bull Run includes a private tour of their large collection of Civil War artifacts paired with an optional wine tasting. The Battle Ride begins and ends at the National Museum of the United States Army and includes transportation, snacks, drinks, lunch, entrance fees, guided tours, and a souvenir printed program. Transportation includes a charter bus option (seating is limited) or a “bring your own car” option to drive yourself to each location.
