Planned Activities
Smith Tract: This will be our traditional roadside litter pick up and then trim back the saplings and small woody plants from the roadside. Tools needed will be loppers and weed eaters. Trash bags and snacks will be provided. Time: 0830 check-in. 0900 start time- 1300 end time. A short topic on history of the site will be provided. Volunteer requirements 6-10 volunteers.
Bloody Ravine: This is a larger property. Work will consist of roadside litter pick up and remove fallen tree limbs that have fallen over the winter. Numerous trees have low hanging limbs that need to be removed which will improve the site appearance and make for more efficient, safe seasonal mowing. Manual or powered pole saws and small chainsaws would be preferred tools. Finally, would like to plant a small flower bed around the American Battlefield Trust sign on the property. Trash bags and snacks will be provided and flowers, planting soil, and mulch for the flower bed. Time: 0830 check in. 0900 start time and 1300 end time. A short topic on the history of the Bloody Ravine will be presented.
