Meeting place
Volunteers should meet at 9:00AM at the flag pole in front of the Renfrew Visitor Center. Parking is available at the lot off Welty Road (just a short walk from the Visitor Center on the other side of the Antietam Creek) and at the lot adjacent to the Visitor Center barn. Work will begin at 9:45AM after an orientation and overview of the historic site!
Planned Activities
During Park Day 2026, volunteers will help Renfrew improve trail access/conditions, prepare our historic gardens for spring planting, paint historic fencing, improve access to the Antietam Creek, and more! Indoor and accessible activities will also be planned to aid Renfrew in preparing for a busy 2026 season inside and out!
History or Educational Activities
Volunteers will have access to all of Renfrew's trails, interpretive waysides, Visitor Center Galleries, and historic landscape!
Should I bring any tools or supplies?
Please be prepared with boots, work gloves, loppers/trimmers, gardening tools, a rain coat/layered clothing, a water bottle, and packed lunch. Other light refreshments will be provided!
Is there a rain date?
In the instance of inclement weather, Park Day will continue as planned.
Please note
All work completed supports our efforts to further open our public park to visitors 365 days a year, as well as prepare our spaces for further interpretation, like an official Civil War Trails marker to share Waynesboro's history during the Civil War era!
