Volunteers should meet at the Visitor Center adjacent to the main parking lot at or before 10:30 AM.
Planned Activities
Help beautify Patrick Henry's Red Hill! Volunteers will assist in trash clean-up and overgrowth clearance along a walking trail leading to an early 20th-century barn. After a 20-minute orientation and training, volunteers can work in small teams to remove abandoned construction materials, cut dead or overgrown plants, and collect scrap metal for recycling. A free boxed lunch is included in the day's work!
History or Educational Activities
Before cleaning begins, Red Hill's director of historic preservation & collections will orientate visitors to the site and lead a guided tour through the barn, which is not usually open to the public.
Should I bring any tools or supplies?
Work gloves are recommended.
Is there a rain date?
In the instance of inclement weather, Park Day will be cancelled.
Please note
Closed-toe shoes are required for participation. Pants and long sleeves are recommended as well.
