Meeting place
Volunteer should arrive at the Hopewell Furnace Visitor Center at 9:45am. We will meet in front of the VC for check-in, safety announcements, and overall awareness of the day's activities. The Visitor Center is located at 2 Mark Bird Ln. Elverson, PA 19520.
Planned Activities
Hopewell Furnace has planned a general Spring clean-up of the grounds to prepare the Park site for staff and visitors in anticipation for a busy 2024 year! Pending staff availability and guidance, volunteers will assist with invasive removal, tree planting, picking up sticks and trash, and cleaning waysides.
History or Educational Activities
At the conclusion of the event, join Park Ranger Nick Cahill for a 30-minute tour of Hopewell Furnace, discussing the historical significance of the furnace structure, village buildings, and the surrounding landscape.
Should I bring any tools or supplies?
Volunteers are encouraged to bring a pair of gloves, sunscreen, sunglasses, long sleeves and pants, closed-toed shoes, and a hat if preferred.
Is there a rain date?
In the instance of inclement weather, Park Day will be cancelled.
Please note
Hopewell Furnace's Visitor Center sits atop a moderately steep hill with village buildings and the furnace at the bottom of the hill. For visitors that require accessibility down to the furnace and its buildings, Park staff can assist these individuals with a ride down to the furnace via a Bobcat UTV. Please call the Visitor Center at 610-582-8773 for more information on how we can accommodate you!
