Meeting place
Join the Gettysburg Nature Alliance as we do our biannual Stream Clean at Sachs Bridge, Marsh Creek and the surrounding area. Located at 720 Pumping Station Road, volunteers should meet at the Gettysburg Nature Alliance Barn, adjacent to Sachs Bridge. The event will run from 9 AM - 11 AM. You can come any time during that time frame and stay as long as you like.
Planned Activities
Volunteers will be asked to walk the grounds of the Gettysburg Nature Alliance property, along Sachs Bridge and Marsh Creek, and clean up any trash and debris that is harmful to the land and water. The area is one of the most visited places just beyond the Gettysburg National Military Park, and unfortunately, it gets a lot of visitors who do not clean up after themselves. Water and a snack will be provided.
History or Educational Activities
The event will get volunteers out into nature. The area they are cleaning was part of the Confederate retreat after the battle of Gettysburg. Although we will not have specific programs, volunteers will be working in a historically important part of Gettysburg's battle.
Should I bring any tools or supplies?
We recommend volunteers dress for the outdoors, and preferably in boots, since they'll be near water and uneven terrain in places. We will provide everyone with rubber gloves and trash bags for the stream clean-up. The event is held rain or shine, so watch the weather and dress accordingly.
