Planned Activities
Join the staff of the Gettysburg National Military Park this year for Park Day April 25, 2026. For our 2026 clean up day, we are asking for volunteers to work in the area of Culp’s Hill. This area of the battle was occupied by Union forces which formed the critical right flank of the Union defensive line. Coming under Confederate attacks on both July 2 and July 3, Union forces defended and maintained their hold on this important landscape. In 2021 the park launched a rehabilitation program focused on this portion of the battlefield and this Park Day project will continue to support those efforts.
Volunteers will cut and pull a variety of trees, shrubs, vines, and other invasive plants from historic stone walls and surrounding meadow and forested areas.

Should I bring any tools or supplies?
Volunteers will need to be able to stand or walk for up to four hours, walk over uneven terrain, bend, lift, and carry up to 25 pounds. All tools will be provided by the park. Volunteers are encouraged to wear clothes appropriate for working in dense brush. Boots or other closed-toe shoes are required, and long pants, a long sleeved shirt, and a hat are strongly recommended. Volunteers are encouraged to bring a water bottle, and application of insect repellent and sunscreen is also recommended.
