Meeting place
All volunteers should meet at Ellwood: 36380 Constitution Highway, Orange, VA 22960. Once you pull into the parking area, look for the green tent to check-in and fill out required paperwork.
Planned Activities
Join us for a morning of teamwork, fresh air, and hands-on preservation at Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park!
We’ll kick things off at Ellwood, where Tom and Buddy will welcome volunteers with a quick safety briefing and provide all necessary PPE. NPS Interpretive Staff will give you Then the fun begins! NPS staff will split the volunteers into two groups.
Team 1: Broeder Barn Crew
Stay at Ellwood and help give the Broeder Barn a fresh look with ground-level painting.
Team 2: Fairview Cemetery Crew
Head over to Fairview Cemetery to gently clean algae from the historic brick perimeter walls and stones, helping preserve this meaningful landscape.
Tom will lead the Ellwood group, and Buddy will guide the cemetery crew — so you’ll be in great hands either way!

History or Educational Activities
FRSP’s interpretive staff will kick off the morning with a lively, engaging talk about the historic Ellwood and Fairview Cemetery — giving you a deeper connection to the very places you’ll be helping preserve!
Should I bring any tools or supplies?
Volunteers will be fully supplied with PPE and tools. Please make sure to bring plenty of water and wear sun protection should the weather be warm.

In the instance of inclement weather, Park Day will continue as planned.
