Planned Activities
Fort Negley Park has three activities planned for Park Day
> Clearing Vegetation: Volunteers will cut vegetation and clear brush from the park to improve visibility.
> Nashville Mustard Seed Collection: Volunteers will gather Nashville Mustard seeds from the park entrance to redeposit in the park. Nashville Mustard is a native plant with a limited habitat range and is experiencing decline. Fort Negley Park has one of the largest patches in the city. Park improvements are expected to impact a large patch.
> Laborer Flag Preparation: Each year in the fall 2771 flags are displayed at the park entrance in remembrance of the laborers the built Fort Negley in 1862. Volunteers will sharpen the planting end of flags to ease installation.
