Planned Activities
Friends of Fort Knox invite the public to help clean the grounds to promote, spark community interest and prepare for opening day. Volunteers help with routine maintenance as part of the national annual Park Day organized by the American Battlefield Trust. Volunteers receive snacks/drinks.
Should I bring any tools or supplies?
Friends of Fort Knox will provide general tools for clean-up, but volunteers are encouraged to bring personal gloves.
Is there a rain date?
In the instance of inclement weather, Park Day will be cancelled.
Please note
- Activities planned for disabilities? We encourage all volunteers to join us!
- Does your site offer accessible facilities? Individuals often have no difficulty navigating the pea-gravel with a motorized wheelchair. However, non-motorized wheelchairs use may be challenging but we will help to the best of our ability. Sometimes guests use the grass next to the path for an easier ride. Once past the sally port entrance, the stone paver path allows access to the center of the Fort itself. However, as the fort was built in the late 1800’s, some portions will not be accessible, such as 2-step alley.
