Volunteers should meet in the lower parking lot of the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitors Center at 8:30 am to sign up.
Park Day activities will include battlefield restoration in the removal of exotic invasive plant species, such as Chinese privet in an area around one of the only earthworks on the battlefield. Another activity planned, if enough there are participants, will be the painting of cannon carriages.
History or Educational Activities
After the completion of the service project, park historian, Jim Ogden, will conduct a brief overview of the action that took place at the project site.
Should I bring any tools or supplies?
Volunteers are asked to wear clothing appropriate for the weather and that they don't mind getting dirty. Boots or tennis shoes should be worn as well. The park will provide all necessary tools, including gloves, but if participants want to bring their own pair, they are welcome to do so.
Is there a rain date?
In the instance of inclement weather, Park Day will continue as planned.
The service project will continue as planned if inclement weather is light. If the weather is severe, the service project will be canceled.
