Meeting place
All volunteers should meet at Camp Nelson National Monument's Visitor Center at 9:30 a.m. We will then proceed to the Kentucky Barn, located in the south section of the park off Loop 2 Road. NPS staff will be present at the Visitor Center to direct participants to the site.
Planned Activities
The activity completes a previous Park Day project to repaint cannon carriages which we will be mounted with new replica cannon tubes/barrels.
History or Educational Activities
NPS staff will share the historical context of Camp Nelson, specifically the defense of the US Army base and the restoration of the historic landscape.
