Michael Price is a Local History Associate at the Springfield-Greene County Library where he has worked since 2005.  A former Seasonal Park Ranger at Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield, Michael has a Master's Degree in history from Missouri State University where he completed a thesis on the 1st Arkansas Cavalry (U.S.).   Specializing in Civil War and military history, he presents programs on a variety of genealogy and local history topics.  Most recently, Michael developed the library’s digital project, The Fairgrounds and Beyond:  Auto Racing in the Ozarks.  He is currently researching the establishment of Wilson’s Creek as a national park.

Join park staff and guest speakers at 1 pm every Sunday from July 6th through August 3rd to learn the history behind battlefield preservation efforts and commemoration. This series will engage visitors in the stories of people and events that saved places hallowed by the sacrifices of soldiers and civilians alike during and after the Civil War. Wilson's Creek National Battlefield is one of those places and this series is part of the remembrance of the 164th anniversary of the Battle of Wilson's Creek.
