Life Behind the Trenches- Living History Event at City Point

In late September 1864, U.S. forces began their fifth offensive against Petersburg. While the armies fought on both sides of the James River, City Point was as busy as ever. Come travel back to those pivotal weeks and explore what was going on at the busy supply hub. Throughout the weekend, visitors will be able to interact with Federal soldiers, field musicians, surgeons, artists, a telegrapher, and even General Grant himself! The event will also feature family-friendly, hands-on activities at the park’s education trailer and at displays from partner museums and organizations. The event will run 10 am – 2 pm on Sunday.
