I am writing today to provide you with a brief update on the Fall Conference in Richmond. At this time, we continue to monitor the public health situation in regards to COVID, as well as the rules in place for public gatherings in Virginia. As of today, we are still working on tours and arrangements for the event to take place. The Trust wants to ensure that you have the best possible experience while staying healthy. We’re putting a variety of safety and cleaning procedures into place and looking at models where we are able to provide social distancing at our events and in the field. We also will have masks, hand sanitizer and gloves on hand. The hotel and the bus company have provided us with updates on their extensive cleaning protocols in place, as follows:
While we are structuring our planning using guidelines from the CDC, the Virginia Health Department and recommended practices by meeting professionals, we will continue to assess the risk factors in holding the event in person. If the time comes where we don’t feel that the event can move forward in a safe way and allow for a positive experience on tours, we may have to postpone the Fall Conference. We are not there yet. I am an eternal optimist and hold out hope that we’ll be together, touring battlefields and historic sites in the Richmond area, in October.
