Central Ohio Civil War Roundtable Meeting
La Navona
154 N Hamilton Rd
Gahanna, OH 43230
The Central Ohio Civil War Roundtable will be hosting its next meeting on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at 7:00PM at La Navona, 154 North Hamilton Road, Gahanna, OH. The featured speaker will be Robert “Bert” Dunkerly, Park Ranger at the Richmond National Battlefield Park. He holds a degree in History from St. Vincent College and a Masters in Historic Preservation from Middle Tennessee State University. He has worked at fourteen historic sites, written thirteen books and numerous scholarly articles.
Bert’s topic will be “How Did it Finally End?” While Appomattox is the most famous surrender, it was not the largest troop surrender, or even the most representative of how the war ended. There were three other major surrenders and several smaller ones. Bert will discuss this fascinating and little-known aspect of the war.
You can learn more about Bert and his topic by visiting the Central Ohio Civil War Roundtable's website.
We will also have a visit from Greg Laur, principal philanthropic advisor with the American Battlefield Trust, at our November 8 meeting. Greg will give a brief presentation on the Trust and then will be happy to meet with members to answer questions after the meeting.
