161st Anniversary of the Battle of Monocacy

The Battle of Monocacy, known as “The Battle That Saved Washington”, took place on July 9, 1864, as part of the third and final Confederate campaign into Maryland. On July 12 -13 Monocacy National Battlefield will commemorate the 161th Anniversary of the Battle of Monocacy with a special event weekend that will include infantry and artillery demonstrations, civil war period music, ranger programs, and special guest programming.
All programs are free and activities will take place at the Monocacy National Battlefield Visitor Center: 5201 Urbana Pike, Frederick, MD 21704
July 12-13 - Saturday and Sunday programs:
10:00 am – Ranger program
11:00 am – Artillery/Infantry
12:00 pm – Ranger program
1:00 pm – Artillery/Infantry
2:00 pm – Guest speaker
3:00 pm – Artillery/Infantry
4:00 pm – ranger program or trail hike
*Music throughout the day on Saturday.
