Dr. John F. Marszalek

A Buffalo, N.Y., native and a Ph.D. from Notre Dame, John F. Marszalek taught for nearly 30 years before retiring in 2002. In 2008 he took over as the executive director and managing editor of the Ulysses S. Grant Association. He had become familiar with Grant while researching his well-received biographies Sherman: A Soldier’s Passion for Order (1993) and Commander of All Lincoln’s Armies: A Life of General Henry W. Halleck (2004).
