Dr. Angela M. Zombek
Copie Hill Civil War Fellow, American Battlefield Trust
Dr. Angela M. Zombek is a Copie Hill Civil War Fellow with the American Battlefield Trust and an assistant professor of history, Civil War Era, at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. She holds both an MA and a PhD in 19th Century U.S. History from the University of Akron and the University of Florida respectively. Dr. Zombek is an accomplished author, having written numerous published articles since 2008. She also wrote the book Penitentiaries, Punishment, and Military Prisons: Familiar Responses to an Extraordinary Crisis during the American Civil War, which was published in 2018. She is currently working on her next book, Stronghold of the Union: Key West Under Martial Law, which will be published by The University Press of Florida.
