Samuel Park was a friend of Abraham Lincoln's as they each served on the Eighth Judicial Circuit, sharing offices. Parks would go on to be a delegate for the 1856 Republican convention where Lincoln was nominated as Vice President, helped to secure Lincoln's presidential nomination, and Lincoln placed him as the Territorial Judge of the Wyoming Territory in 1861.
