The Beall-Dawson House was home to a slaveholding family. During the Civil War, General McClellan spent the night there as a guest of the Beall sisters, describing them as three women of "strong Union sentiment." Tours of the Stonestreet Museum of 19th Century Medicine focus on medical practices of the 1850s and 1860s. The Jane C. Sween Library contains Montgomery County research collections that are available for use by the public.
