La Cite De La Mer

This is the Civil War Discovery Trail's first site outside of the United States. On display is a cannon and other artifacts from the CSS Alabama, which sank 12 miles offshore on June 19, 1864, after battling the USS Kearsarge. The Civil War Trust dedicated a plaque honoring the battle at La Cite de la Mer Museum in 2004.
