Great Lakes National Cemetery, Michigan

Great Lakes National Cemetery was established in 2005, and the first burial took place on October 17 of that year. The cemetery covers 544 acres and, as of 2024, has over 55,000 interments. It is the 122nd largest in the national cemetery system. While his exact burial location is unknown, the Sons of the American Revolution erected a memorial to Joseph van Etten, 1st NY Regiment.  This cemetery contains two Medal of Honor recipients.
