The former home and birthplace of portraitist the famed portraitist Gilbert Stuart who immortalized Presidents Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, John Adams, and John Quincy Adams, heroes of the Revolution and War of 1812, prominent statesmen, and society men and women of the day. The museum is authentically restored and furnished to resemble a true 1750s home, which includes a working gristmill, gardens, woodland trails, art exhibitions, and more.
