Cedar Bridge Tavern Ocean County Historic Site
Jerrye & Roy Klotz, MDJohn Middleton, Jr. built the Cedar Bridge Tavern c. 1775, and it retains strong integrity, including a rare early 19th-century bar from when the building served as a tavern. The property may also be the site of one of the last land engagements of the Revolutionary War. The site encompasses 291 acres, with a 3.5-mile walking trail and year-round public programming, including an annual commemoration of the Affair at Cedar Bridge, held each year to mark the December 27, 1782, skirmish between Patriot militia and Loyalist “Refugees” led by Captain John Bacon.
