The site of the Crater is located within the Eastern Front of the Petersburg National Battlefield Park and is a stop along the self-guided driving tour. Visitors today can see a recreation of the entrance to the mine and the remnants of the actual crater. The Visitor Center is located on Virginia Route 36 just east of the city.
Preservation
The American Battlefield Trust and our members have saved more than 2 acres at The Crater Battlefield.
