Pickett’s Charge: General Armistead’s Virginians

Gettysburg, Pa.

This augmented reality experience recreates Pickett’s Charge on July 3, 1863, as Gen. Lewis Armistead led his Virginians toward the Union position on Cemetery Ridge. Armistead’s men reached the low stone wall at the Angle, where a small number of Confederates broke through the Union line and fierce hand-to-hand fighting followed. Federal reinforcements quickly overwhelmed the breakthrough, and Armistead was mortally wounded as the Confederate assault collapsed.
