Partner Event
August 24, 2025 @ 12:00 PM - 12:30 PM EDT
610 Battle Park Drive
Winchester, VA 22601
The summer of 1864 saw a flurry of battles in and around the Shenandoah Valley, including Second Kernstown. Join a National Park Service ranger from Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park to learn about why the valley was an important theater of war at this stage in the Civil War. An emphasis will be placed on the battles in July and August, which led to the elevation of Federal General Philip Sheridan to command in the region.
Kernstown Battlefield Association, a nonprofit group, operates the historic battlefield. The battlefield is part of Shenandoah Valley Battlefields National Historic District.
