Take a behind-the-scenes look at reenacting and learn more about the hobby with the 40th Regiment of Foot, 2nd Battalion, Light Infantry Company. An elite unit, the 40th fought during the Philadelphia Campaign, and they may have taken part in the British raid of Valley Forge on September 18, 1777.
During this workshop, unit members will create and repair their own uniforms for upcoming reenactments, to include events commemorating the 250th anniversary of this country’s independence.
Stop by the Visitor Center at Valley Forge to speak to members of the 40th in the exhibit space, and then head to the nearby meeting room to learn not only about the British perspective of the war, but also the women following the 40th, and how the unit’s uniforms and fighting practices changed as the war progressed.
