Rock Creek: A Wide and Formidable Obstacle
Adams County Historical Society Lecture
Adams County Historical Society
625 Biglerville Road
Gettysburg, PA 17325
Cost: $12.50 per person
Speaker: Tim Smith, Adams County Historical Society
Located along the eastern boundary of the Gettysburg National Military Park, Rock Creek was a formidable barrier to the Southern advance on Culp’s Hill during the second and third day of the battle. But with virtually no public access, and very little historical interpretation, the role of Rock in the battle is overlooked by visitors and historians. Join Timothy H. Smith as he discusses the history and relevance of the creek named for its boulder-strewn appearance.
