The Road to Emmitsburg
Adams County Historical Society Lecture
Adams County Historical Society
625 Biglerville Road
Gettysburg, PA 17325
Cost: $12.50 per person
Speaker: Tim Smith, Adams County Historical Society
One of the ten roads leading to Gettysburg, and bounded by sturdy fencing, the Emmitsburg Road was used as a Union defensive position on July 2nd and crossed by Pickett and Pettigrew's Divisions on July 3. But the road itself has not been preserved as part of the battlefield, and the ground on each side of it has felt the continuous pressure of commercial development. Join Timothy H. Smith as he discusses the story of the Road to Gettysburg.
