Racing Towards Preservation

On Saturday, March 8, walkers and runners will come together to run/walk either a 5K course or a 10K course and discover the location of the Battle of Payne's Farm which happened during the Mine Run Campaign in the late fall of 1863. FOWB is hosting this event, in conjunction with Bishops Events, in hopes that people will learn more about this special place. The property is owned by the American Battlefield Trust, who has graciously given us permission to have this event. We have excellent sponsors for this event and hope to have an excellent turnout. The Friends of Wilderness Battlefield, Fredericksburg Walking Club, and the Piedmont Environmental Council will each have information tables set up at the event, for visitors to learn more about what each organization does and to learn more about Payne’s Farm and the Battle of Mine Run.
